Police Chief Associations
Across Canada there are municipal, provincial and national Police Chief Associations. They serve a purpose beyond camaraderie to include the sharing of information, professional development and support, the collaborative development of integrated policies, research, and as a political lobby in support of policing issues, among other things.
Police Chief Associations provide cohesive leadership and a unified front in support of many policing issues in Canada.
As jurisdictional boundaries become blurred as a result of organized crime, the internet revolution and terrorism, it is critical that traditional policing organizations and practices adapt to the vastly changing world around them. Police Chiefs and their Associations are politically positioned to lead such a metamorphosis.
Although there are Police Chief Associations in every province in Canada, not all Police Chief Associations have an active web site, however, those that do are listed below for more detailed information. In addition, there are also a few International Police Chief Association links noted for access to further information.
