Youth Justice

The links on this page are mainly federal government or independent organizations that will provide relevant information on youth justice issues across Canada.  The content covers the relevant law in general, publications, related information and other links on youth justice.

There are provincial government web sites that provide more local information and you should be able to access these by searching for 'youth justice' and including the name of your province or territory (i.e. youth justice British Columbia) on Google, or similar search engine..

Several international sites are also included for comparative purposes.

DOJ - Youth Justice The Dept. of Justice Youth Justice Renewal Initiative page provides an overview to youth justice, the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), research and analysis, publications, funding issues, partnerships, awards and media information.
Youth Crime and Justice - SafeCanada.ca This federal government Safe Canada web page provide numerous links to information, reports and publications on youth crime and justice.
DOJ - Myths and Realities of Youth Justice This federal government Dept. of Justice web page provides answers to the myths and realities of youth justice in Canada.
Canadian Children's Rights Council (CCRC)

The CCRC's page on Youth Criminal Justice in Canada provides a significant amount of information from newspaper articles, reports, statistics, and relates to international issues such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

J4Y The J4Y (Justice For Youth) web site is an initiative of the John Howard Society and provides information for "all things relating justice and youth".
YCDO The Youth Criminal Defence Office (YCDO) web site was developed by funding from Justice Canada, the Province of Alberta and the Alberta Law Foundation and provides information for lawyers and youth on youth justice issues.
JFCY JFCY's (Justice for Children and Youth) web site provides information for low income children and youth in the city of Toronto and vicinity.

C4YJ The C4YJ (Campaign For Youth Justice) is a national campaign aimed at raising awareness and stopping the practice of dealing with young people under the age of 18 in the adult criminal justice system.
Youth For Justice Youth for Justice is a "unique national initiative that uses the power of active learning about the law to build upon the vitality of young people and to address the risks of being young in America today."

YJB (Youth Justice Board)

The YJB of England and Wales provides extensive comparative information on the youth justice system, initiatives and solutions that are in place in the UK.
New Zealand
Youth Justice New Zealand This New Zealand government web page provides a comparative overview about youth justice principles and process in the country.

Child, Youth and Family

Child, Youth and Family is a New Zealand government agency who works with children and youth who are involved in the justice system.  The web page provides helpful information for parents, teenagers, caregivers and social workers.
